Foam 35 responded with 8 personnel shortly after dispatch. Moments later, police arrived on scene and confirmed a working fire with heavy fire showing from the second floor.

Ladder 21 arrived and confirmed the working fire, while Engine 25 (Merion Fire Company of Ardmore) secured a water supply from the Haverford Road side of the incident. Foam 35 established a secondary water supply, with fire visible from down the block, and began a 900-foot lay of 5” hose to support operations.

Upon arrival, crews stretched multiple attack lines and immediately placed the deck gun in service, knocking down the rapidly advancing fire that had extended through the roof of the structure.

As conditions quickly deteriorated, Command ordered an evacuation of the structure and transitioned to a defensive strategy. Once the bulk of the fire was knocked down, crews re-entered the structure to open up walls and ceilings, check for hidden fire, and perform overhaul operations.

During the incident, another house was reported on fire, resulting in the dispatch of Engine 35. The call was quickly determined to be a second report of the original fire. Engine 35 was redirected to the scene, where crews assisted with fire suppression and overhaul.

Company 35 returned to the township just after 1:00 AM.
