By Brookline Volunteer Fire Company - Station 35
June 20, 2025

First, was a report of a subject trapped by a downed tree in their residence on Myrtle Avenue. Simultaneously, the company was dispatched to a reported building fire in the 600 block of Washington Avenue.

Foam 35 responded to Myrtle Ave and Ladder 35 responded to Washington. Chief 35 arrived on Myrtle and reported no injuries or entrapment. Ladder 35 arrived on Washington along with Chief 56 and found wires and a tree down on a shed. No fire department services could be provided and PECO was notified.

While Foam 35 was on Myrtle Avenue they were alerted to an elevator rescue across the street at The Golfers Inn in Upper Darby. Units from Upper Darby were committed to a rescue in Drexel Hill. Chief 35, Foam 35 and Montco Rescue 21 (Penn Wynne) removed one subject from the elevator.

While clearing Washington Ave, Stations 56,34,35 were dispatched to Hollow Run Apartments for reports of a tree into the building. Units arrived to find a large tree that had fallen and severely damaged the balconies and part of the roof. The Township Codes Department was advised.

Ladder 35 was then dispatched to the 300 block of Rittenhouse Circle for trees and wires down. Ladder 35 arrived at the first call and found that no fire department services were needed and advised PECO.

Upon clearing Ladder 35 was flagged down for two other similar calls on the same block. PECO was notified for those also.

Upon returning to the station, we were dispatched to Delaware Avenue for reports of a tree into a house. Chief, Ladder and Foam 35 responded. Upon arrival, crews found a large tree into the roof of the house. Crews remained on scene for a short while, the house was checked and turned over to the homeowner.

Please remember to never approach downed trees or wires! You may think they’re dead but they can still be live!
